Geofencing is one of the most powerful and versatile features in the Z Track platform. Once you understand how to use it effectively, it becomes an essential part of daily fleet management — automating monitoring tasks that would otherwise require constant manual attention.
What is a Geofence?
A geofence is a virtual boundary drawn on a digital map. It can be any shape — a circle around a warehouse, a polygon tracing a delivery zone, or a custom boundary around a school. When a GPS-tracked vehicle crosses that boundary (entering or exiting), the system automatically triggers an alert or logs an event.
Common Use Cases for Pakistani Businesses
Delivery Zone Management
E-commerce and courier companies draw geofences around delivery areas. When a driver enters or exits a zone, the dispatcher is automatically notified, enabling better coordination and customer updates.
Warehouse & Depot Control
Know exactly when vehicles arrive at or depart from your warehouse. Generate automated arrival/departure reports without any manual logging.
School & Staff Transport
Schools use geofences around campuses and student pickup zones. Parents can be notified automatically when the school bus enters the geofence near their home.
Restricted Area Alerts
Construction companies use geofences around active sites to ensure equipment vehicles don't leave the site perimeter during working hours — or to detect if they do during off-hours.
Border / City Boundary Alerts
For inter-city logistics, geofences at city boundaries provide automatic departure and arrival logging for route management and customer ETAs.
How to Set Up a Geofence in Z Track
Log in to your Z Track dashboard or app → go to the Geofence section → click "Create New" → draw your zone on the map → name it → choose trigger type (entry, exit, or both) → assign vehicles → set notification method (push, SMS, email). That's it — the geofence is now active and monitoring in real time.
Z Track Professional and Enterprise plans support up to 10 and unlimited geofences respectively. Contact our team to get started.
